Our Materials and Production
We source all our leathers from small, privately-owned Italian tanneries. The leathers are then tenderly handcrafted into bags in an family-owned artisan factory in northern Italy.
Artisan-crafted and sweatshop-free
Three generations skilfully work together to bring Marta Vitali’s designs to life. The head of the family, Pierluigi dalla Via takes pride in the production of our bags, lovingly calling them his “cathedrals” due to the complex craftsmanship, attention to detail and time it takes to manufacture each bag.
Traditional leather goods manufacture
Fine craftsmanship details, such as edgepainting, hand-stitching, and leatherbinding are the foundation of every Maison Hēroïne handbag. As each bag takes a long time and expertise to be manufactured, we release our collections in limited quantities.
Our Sustainability Promise
We believe in maintaining an ethical production process and since our inception we have been entirely sweatshop-free. We are committed to our goal of being completely carbon-neutral by 2020 and are now re-designing all parts of the manufacturing and packing process which use non-sustainable materials and methods.
